Behind the Badge. Beyond the Crime Scene.

At Crime Scene Impressions, our mission is to take listeners beyond the headlines and behind the crime scene tape to explore the real-world investigations behind some of the most compelling true crime cases.

While many true crime programs focus on media coverage, police press conferences, and courtroom proceedings, we delve deeper into the investigative process itself—examining the evidence, the decisions, and the critical moments that shaped each case. Through the lens of an experienced investigator, we provide insight into how cases were built, why investigative choices were made, and how evidence was interpreted from the crime scene to the courtroom.

Our goal is to educate, inform, and engage audiences with authentic, fact-driven storytelling that honours victims, sheds light on the pursuit of justice, and offers a rare look inside the realities of criminal investigations.

Join us as we follow each case from its earliest moments through investigation, prosecution, and verdict—revealing the story behind the story.

Crime Scene Impressions takes you beyond the headlines and behind the crime scene tape. Through expert investigative insight, we explore real cases from the perspective of those who worked them—examining the evidence, the decisions, and the pursuit of justice from crime scene to courtroom.

Meet the Host

Kevin Bryan, Retired Detective & Professor

Welcome to Crime Scene Impressions, where true crime meets real-world forensic science.

The show is hosted by Kevin, who spent 30 years with the York Regional Police. Over his decorated career, Kevin transitioned from uniform patrol to the Criminal Investigations Branch, ultimately serving 14 years as a Detective in the elite Forensic Identification Unit.

He didn't just study crime scenes—he managed them. Kevin personally processed forensics for 25 homicides, 30 attempted murders, and over 100 autopsies. Trained by the FBI Academy in Quantico and the Canadian Police College, he became a legally recognized court expert in fingerprint and footwear identification, securing convictions by making over 1,000 positive forensic matches.

After retiring from active duty, he took his field expertise into the classroom, serving as a Professor at Seneca Polytechnic School of Public Safety to teach the next generation of investigators and law enforcement officers.

Why Crime Scene Impressions?

With Crime Scene Impressions, Professor and Retired Detective Kevin Bryan is stepping away from the lecture hall and up to the microphone. True crime stories are often told from the outside looking in, but Kevin brings listeners directly behind the police tape.

By breaking down the exact forensic science, psychological impressions, and meticulous case management that solve real crimes, Kevin delivers an authentic, unvarnished look at how justice is built, one piece of physical evidence at a time.
